It's always a super-exciting event where all my students get to show off what they've been working on in classes! There were bellydance, celtic, and latin dance classes, troupes, and soloists, as well as some very special guest soloists and groups! DJ Fuzzboy kept the beats flowing, the audience was warm and supportive, and all the dancers sparkled on stage! It's always awesome for me to see all my students working together, helping each other cram-practise before the show, dealing with last-minute costume alterations, supporting one another through pre-show jitters, and then putting on such a beautiful show! Thanks guys! As most of you know, as well as a bellydancer I am also totally in love with fitness, the gym, working out, and helping others get fit and feel great! I have also enjoyed competing in fitness competitions almost every year to keep me motivated with all my fitness goals! I always love it when my dance and fitness worlds collide, so when an association I've competed and volunteered with lots - IDFA asked if my troupe would be the opening act for their big world championships competition, I was totally excited! I decided to debut a brand new bellydance-samba piece so it would be super-exciting with candelabras, veils, and samba! I also finally choreographed to a song I've loved for quite some time, but felt it was too beautiful to just do anything to... Yearning by Raul Ferrando. I've seen tons of dancers renditions of this piece and knew if I were to do something to this piece it would have to be really different and beautiful... then one day when I was thinking about what we would do at this show, this candelabra/veil idea came to me - it was perfect with the slow snake-y sections and then the big grand sections! Me and my dancers had an awesome time backstage and on stage, plus I'm totally inspired by all the fit bods and transformation stories! |
